Dish and Viacom can't come to an aggreement about distribution rights/cost of Viacom programming over the Dish Network. As a result most Viacom stations are now off-line on Dish, like MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Noggin, CBS in some marktest, etc.

It really pisses me of that they duke it ought on the viewers back.

I just sent the following e-mail to the two CEO's:

-------------------------------------------

Mr Ergen, Mr Redstone,

As a happy Dish subscriber for the last 5 month as well as a regular viewer of several Viacom stations, I have to say that I’m dismayed to see the battle over broadcast rights fought on the back of the audience. As the CEO’s of public service companies I have to say shame on both of you for using these tactics for your companies’ gains.
If these matters are not resolved in due time, I will contact my representative to ask him to consider introducing legislation that will regulate these matters and as most regulation this will be to the disadvantage for all of us.

Mr. Ergen,
I applaud your efforts to keep pricing of Dish Network programming low, but please make sure that this does not affect subscribers in this way. There are other choices.

Mr. Redstone,
As a programming provider of stations as important as CBS in some markets, I must say that your tactics of bundling programming for strong arming cable and satellite providers is a sleaze move at best. Running little banner ads asking Dish Subscribers to ‘complain’ to Dish Network is adolescent at best.
I will use the time without your stations to see what other stations have to offer me during my usual viewing hours.

Hoping for a fast solution to these matters.

Sincerely,

------------------------------------------

DirecTV is owned my Murdoch. So I can't for ethical reasons.
Not the Dish is perfect, but they are the lesser evil.
