Dr. Eileen Klein -- Summit Medical I have kept my NYC docs since I am here (NY) more than I am in NJ. Also, my company's plan is written so that I have to have a doctor in NYS. My hubby sees Dr. Klein and really likes her a lot. I've dealt with her office and they are NICE! |

I'm looking too. Summit Med Group doesn't take our insurance (GHI) and I tried calling Orenburg's office but got put on hold. Maybe I should try again. |

Algebra - up until this past week I have kept my NYC doctors, too. But as I was laid up in bed for 2 days, too far from the city I thought -- "This is nuts!" what if I had a real emergency? The only NYC doc I am keeping is my GYN - love him, and only see him twice a year, so I can schlep.... Thanks Algebra and Tom... I will be making calls to see if they take Oxford. shh - let me know what you come up with too. I trust you usually |

Pippi -- I ended up at St. B's emergency room last week! I called my insurance company and that's what they told me to do. I had strep and was never so ill in my life. The people at emergency were very kind and took great care of me but I felt like a fool showing up for strep throat. |

Strep throat is serious. It doesn't seem it because once treated, it goes away quickly. I used to get it every year, almost like clockwork. I rush into the doctor's office whenever I think I might have it. I once tested negative one day and positive the next, which is to say I can feel it coming on before the doctor can detect it. Don't feel bad for going in with it. It can get serious, as you now know. Tom Reingold the prissy-pants There is nothing

Aetna is good. An emergency room visit is $35 a primary care appt is $5 and a specialist is free -- perscriptions are $2.50 under my plan. My husband has Aetna too but his plan is nowhere near as good. Can you tell I am not getting any work done today? |

All the doctors at Springfield Family Practice (Samantha Pozner, Marnie Doubek and Hugh Snyder) 973-376-7788 are wonderful. You are never rushed and getting an appointment isn't difficult. The office staff is really nice, too! |

My wife did her residency with the Docs at Springfield and that is where she sends anyone looking for a primary care doc around here. The are all very nice. |

I am on Oxford and use Summit Med Group, mainly see the drs based in Short Hills (also see the peds and OB/GYN there). My primary is Dr. Marcia Sherman and she is fine but I had an appt once with Dr. Bloustein who was awesome. FYI...never had much of a problem with Oxford. My first child was in the NICU after birth for a couple of weeks, $25,000 (just for NICU plus about $8k for the delivery) and we only paid the $10 copay at the beginning of my pregnancy. |

Wendyn - I am glad to hear Oxford steps up when it comes to the serious stuff, I really am. Because when you've just given birth and your baby is in the NICU I am sure the very last thing you want to worry about is insurance red tape... Minor complaint, but indicative of how I feel about insurance companies: last week I was denied a prescription for celebrex. Was told I had to try two different meds before they would authorize it! My doc obviously didn't WANT to recommend other drugs - or else he WOULD have! thanks all, for the recommendations. |

Well Pipp, you know how Oxford stepped up with me—they flew us out of Quebec by air ambulance the day after the insurance took effect. Chubb had us there for what we expected to be at least a month, with a tiny premie surrounded by all these gargantuan lumberjack babies. |

Off topic... shh, isn't is strange to see your tiny baby next to "normal sized" infants? My first was low birth weight (not considered preemie at 37.5 weeks) and was 3lbs 7oz. In the NICU at Overlook she was one of the smallest babies there but surprizingly one of the healtiest. Went home at around 4lbs. When I put her in the Y at 6 months the caretakers treated her like she was 6 weeks! I had to tell them to put her on the floor so she could work on sitting up, etc. She is still TINY at 3 years (just hit 20 lbs) but that is probably genes as DH and I are small people. DD#2 was 6lbs 7oz and I thought she was enourmous! At 10 months she weighs almost as much as #1. Still small on the charts but so heavy to me! |

Wendy, we were transferred to St. B's where my 4 lb'er seemed huge in comparison to 1 lb'ers. My other 2 girls were premie, but 6'6. Now all healthy and happy. H and I are both kind of small-boned too (right Pipp? ) so I'd never expect to have bruisers either. |

BTW Pippi...TWO days you were laid up? "Hello, I'm sick. Are you sick? I can't move." Sympathy has never been my strong point. Or would that have been empathy? |

shh- I'd consider them fightin' words, except I've known since you were 6 yrs old that neither sympathy NOR empathy were your strong points. I love you anyway. YES - TWO days - can you believe it?? wanna go to the park this weekend again - I can spend even more time laid up Do you still have that message? I bet it is good for a laugh.... |

Uhm, we met the first day of kindergarten at P.S. 22 in 1974. Neither of us had yet turned five. Holy sh-t I've known you for almost thirty years—and we still talk! Amazing! I'd love to go to the park, early whichever day is fine. I erased the message—my kids would have seen me ROFLMAO every time I checked the voice mail and wondered what the F was up with mommy, so I deleted it.

Years? No, a couple of MONTHS, most of which were spent living in that concrete hell. Once I left we were ok. (Join the club, I didn't speak to too many people then anyway, and of course there's the one I did speak to who wished I'd leave him alone!) Sunday, fine.
