Has anyone seen The Chosen at the Paper Mill? It got a reasonably favorable review in the New York Times and I was interested in seeing it, but haven't been to the Paper Mill in a long time and didn't realize how expensive it has gotten. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the money.

First mezzanine seats (the farthest from the stage I'd be willing to sit) cost $46 apiece (with fees) for a non-Saturday/Sunday show. I guess it's still cheaper than Broadway, but it's an expensive evening out all the same for a couple, not even counting babysitting.

The acting was superb. The set was wonderful and the play terrific. My husband and I were very glad that we went.
It was great seeing Theodore Bikel live and from reading the playbill found out that one of the pricipals lives in Maplewood. Go see it!

We're planning to go on Sunday. We're especially looking forward to seeing the performance of our friend, Mitch Greenberg, a Maplewood resident. The review in today's News-Record was glowing, as was the review of Proof, a Strollers production (sorry, couldn't resist making the plug).

edited to add: our posts crossed, Nancy!

We are subscribers at Paper Mill this year and see all the productions. The Chosen was a play I probably would not have gone to otherwise. The play was a pleasant surprise that left us thinking and discussing for days.

Darn, I just wish it weren't so expensive. I'll have to give it a bit more thought. Thanks for the responses.

There is always Peter Pan at CHS! Seriously, the kids do a knock-out job and you might want to bring the kids instead of geting a sitter!
