We have been making half-hearted attempts to sell our 1963 Buick Riviera -- really no attempts other than posting in MOL classifieds. I need my garage back, I need to sell this car. I love it, it's fun, it runs well but I need my garage back NOW. Anyone ever sell on ebay? Any suggestions? My other alternative is to rent a garage somewhere, anyone know of any garage space -- doesn't have to be near by? Any words of wisdom (other that to get off my duff and list it on ebay)? I have no clue what to write in the description -- it's white, automatic windows, looks real nice???

Algebra2 -- take a look at ebay (do a search for Buick Riviera, 1962- 1964) -- there are 4 listings, even a white '63 like your beauty. I think the secret is saying as much as you can about the car, and lots of enticing (but realistic) pictures. your car is a classic and should sell! -- Pete

My nephew has sold cars on E-Bay - it's relatively simple since the purchaser has to arrange for pick-up or delivery. You can put both a photo and description of the car. Another idea would be to donate it to some non-profit for a raffle (my daughter-in-law would drool over this classic car!)- then you could use it as a tax write off.

I sold my wife's car on ebay. It was a total wreck, i.e. even the insurance company totalled it. They gave her $300 less than the value in exchange for letting us keep it. I put it on ebay with honest pictures of the damage. The bidding was outrageous, from all over the country. We ended up getting a heck of a lot of market value for the car. It was really very easy. The guy picked up the car with a tow trailer and paid in cash.

Good luck, and let me know if you need any help.

Just to give an another prospective:

I listed a vehicle once and the winning bidder who was driving up from VA to pick it up never showed. Took a day off of work and waited around the place where I stored it. Never heard from him after that. I also lost some eBay fees that they wouldn't reimburse.

I actually had another deadbeat buyer from an online classifieds site. Placing the ad was free, but this person from NC gave me a time that he would meet me and a couple of hours after our set meeting time, he called and said that his wife wouldn't let him purchase it - and he was still in NC! Couldn't he call when he knew that he had no intention of driving up? ....yes, another wasted day.

Ended up donating the vehicle. Cost me much less in the long run and gave me a tax writeoff.

Not sure this is the best route for a classic, but I sold a car to CarCash. Just drove to their location in NYC (west side, easy to get to) and walked out with a check in about 15 minutes. I recall the price was about the blue book trade-in value (see www.kbb.com).

okay - my boyfriend was kind enough to explain to me that this particular car is antique, so it is not something you learn to drive on - you put it in a movie!
Sorry,
Tiffany
