I'm not sure what good posting this will do, but power is out in my neighborhood. Went out at around 11:30, presently using my laptop and dial up. Please send supplies!

Yep, woke up this morning to a slew of blinking clocks. Any idea how long the power was out for?

I can't believe many of these modern appliances and electronics still don't have clocks that hold the time during an outage!

How else would you know that the power had come back on?

One of the appliances in my kitchen (haven't figured out which of the three with built in clocks) sounds a nice loud chime when the power comes back on so you know its time to reset the clock. This can be great fun when we get those on again off again brown outs every few minutes.

We didn't lose power last night by the way.

I was alseep on the couch in front of I Love The Eighties. When the power went out the alarm system starts beeping, then the alarm company calls to tell me the power is out but since the cordless doesn't work I can just hear my loud rotary phone ringing out on the sunporch -- where I am not going b/c it's cold. So then, since they didn't reach me, the alarm company calls my cell which I can't find in the dark. I KNOW MY POWER'S OUT -- Stop Calling Me. By this time I was wide awake running around the house holding a 50 pound kid in the dark.

A digital clock will tell you how long it has been since the power came back on.

An analog clock that you plug into the wall will tell you the duration of the outage.

Having both, if you do the math, will tell you when it started, if it was a single outage.
