Hey musicme, what pieces of equipment are you giving up for these 3 minutes of glory ?. These progenies demand a pay-back. Who said musicians don't have,"family values" ?. |

Nice start but unless she's a purist, you got a lot more blood to shed. Were probably talking, wah-wah's, distortion boxes, more wattage, etc, etc and so on. |

Hey, I'm not even a musician and my kids are pimping me for high-priced electronic geetars. They sent a fundraising letter to their grandparents, are planning a bake sale on our front yard, and soon will have enough scratch to get microphones, amps, etc. They even have a name for their band--Fire on the Ice. Man, it is SOOOOO COOOOOL having kids! |

Great idea Mark. I think I'll have a bake sale of my own to get a couple of new musical toy's. The problem is, I can't bake and if I ask my wife to, "Get into that kitchen and rattle those pots and pans", I'll wind up with a concussion and a pan upside my head. It worked for Big Joe Williams but it aint gonna work for me. |

I was in Guitar Center yesterday and before any of the employees could stop me I let my son, now 3 and a little play a 6,000.00 dollar semi hollow electric. He's hooked. |

In the past when I had to take my son anywhere around route 22, I would make a quick stop into Guitar Center and listen to him say, "DAD CAN WE GO", every 15 seconds. We made a stop there last week for strings , picks, etc. and I couldn't get him outta there. While trying out a myriad of guitars, he looked up at me and said, "Dad, now I know why you like this place so much" . Part of me felt proud as can be, another part felt that I have created a (very expensive) monster. Duncan-You have nerves of steel. If ya really wanna test yourself, take your son to Mandolin Bros. and let him play one of their 30 grand guitars. |

We will see about that on Sat night. I myself, am terrified of 30K instruments. So my son will have to be at least, say 5 before he touches on of those |

No guitar is worth 30k (or even 6k) (well maybe if autographed by BB King...). I like my $1200 Strat just fine, and that was a stretch. Gave my daughter my Tele last year, now she's hooked. She's actually into some classic r&r. I'm thinking we should start a ROCK SCHOOL, give all these kids an edumacation.

musicme.. I was seriously thinking of posting a list of possibilities and having y'all pick. I cannot make a decision to save my life. Its the same thing when I have to do a monologue for an audition. I can never decide until I am in the room. Its starting to drive my wife a little batty. She keeps saying ITS ONLY ONE SONG. |

OK, finishing touches were put on our pieces for tomorrow night. Santana's Game of Love Counting Crows' Rain King and an original called September Skies This has really been an interesting exercise. We're excited to do these songs in a stripped down format. (My wife thinks all our rehearsals at the house should be acoustic....sorry honey) www.logisticalnightmares.com |

I won't give away the set list, but our plan is to play only material we've not performed in public before. And we do seem to get more out of the acoustic rehearsals. It's helpful to be able to hear myself singing for a change. |

See one of the songs I was considering was Rain King. Thanks for making my choice easier!!! But still in all....Elvis Costello, REM, Indigo Girls, Paul Simon, or Van Morrison. Maybe I should do that Wheel of Fortune thing that Elvis did on the Spike tour. That was way too much fun.

GO FOR IT DUNCAN !!!. But how many songs is that wheel gonna have ?. If ya really wanna be brave do an NRBQ. They used to have something called the Magical Box onstage, where people used to drop in requests and whatever (and I mean WHATEVER) song they picked out of the box ,they would attempt to do (if they knew it or not). I once saw them attempt a hilarious version of Volare. I'm very glad to hear that this show is giving a decibal break to some of the participants spouses. Maybe I should quit my job and become a marriage councellor for musicians. |

The comedy would be if I only put one song on the whole wheel.

Uke..Thanks for having me and being such a great MC. Im sorry I ran out of gas before the end and spoke to my son about this waking up at 5:30AM thing :-( It was great to meet so many really talented folks. I was hoping to discover who musicme and ML1 are but alas it was not to be. What a great crowd showed up as well. Made me miss being in a band, alot. I had forgotten how much fun it is to make/listen to music. Not to mention the very covetous feelings I had for some of the finer crafted instruments there. Mr. D best have that 12 string under lock and key at ALL times. :-) Thanks everyone. |

Duncan, great job -- and cool song selection. I guess all the careful consideration paid off. I was going to say hi after our set, but I think you were gone by then. maybe next time And thanks to everyone who came out -- what a great audience! |

I dont know ML1.. if I had it to do again, I might have gone with my immediate second choice.. Mark Knopfler's Romeo and Juliet. But still, descending mike aside, it was fun. And I do hope there is a next time. Maybe something like this could be put together for the David Coble Fund. I would happily play/roadie/MC/whatever for a cause like that. Any other takers? If you don't know about the fund check out this link.. www.davidcoblefund.org |
