Well I'd say that it's about time that the right lane on the East bound side of W. South Orange Ave. and Ridgewood Rd. be designated for RIGHT TURN ONLY. Every day I drive East on the Avenue, and when I get to that intersection any driver that is in the right lane wants to race down the hill so that they can cut me off at Church Street. I've also seen plenty on fender benders due to the crazy lane merge. It's not rocket science folks, make the right lane West of Ridgewood RD RIGHT TURN ONLY and then change the section East of Ridgewood Rd to Church St. a single lane with a shallow shoulder. This would make the area a safer ride.

I have suggested the exact same thing more than once. At this point the village engineer and administrator want to wait to see what a traffic study says about this and other issues (traffic study is currently being done).

Mr. Rosner, No disrespect to yourself or the other board members, but if the reason for delaying the correcting of obvious mistakes is that certin Village employees want to wait for the results of a traffic study, then why wasn't this study done a few years ago?

Joe has a point. A traffic study to determine the impact of those bumpouts should have been done well before they were installed. You don't need a study at this point... just interview the people who have to deal with the situation every day. I drive that way three times a week - and, I turn right on Ridgewood rather than deal with impossible traffic and rude drivers.

Joe: I agree the traffic study should have been done. S. Orange Ave is a county road and a "professional traffic study " must be done before changes can be made although it seems pretty obvious to me as it does to almost anyone who drives there what needs to be done.
I can't explain why there has been a delay in getting the study done (BOT authorized it over one year ago). I just want to see it get done and some modifications and changes made to improve the traffic flow.

Only better enforcement can help with dealing with rude drivers.

And if there is no study, what legally prevents doing the work anyway?
Better enforcement - when many drivers double park at Dunkin Donuts, many drivers make illegal cross lane turns into parking spaces on Sloan Street, many dirvers double park on Sloan Street, and nothing is done about that.
No enforcement is likely to be the same as better enforcement.

It is a county road. Traffic study is required first.
If there is no enforcement, then why do I get so many complaints from people about tickets they get on Sloan Street?

A traffic study showing need for modification is very important for several reasons. the most important is to avoid waste time/money on unnecessary solutions that only appear to solve on problem on the surface.

it is foolish to make any type of chage to a major road without a study and proving it needs to be done. just because you see the road for a few moments a day and decide this will solve the problem does not mean it will.
