Dave, Once again Nohero has personally attacked me. I see no reason whatsoever why this plagiarizing phony shouldn't lose his password. Let's forget the fact this little man uses the word "asshat" which is just stupid, but he constantly bombards this site with material he claims to be his own, when in fact it's not. Dave, In my line of work people like Nohero are sent packing because creditability is the key to success. If Nohero is not suspended for using the word "asshat" to attack the opinion of another poster, I can't see any reason why anyone should be suspended. Dave, for the long term health of MOL send him packing for a week, make him think about his poor choice of language, and in the end maybe for the sake of MOL, he'll simply leave. I mean who really wants a plagiarizer anyway?? Your friend, Straw p.s. I am going to use this thread from now on as a place where posters can copy and paste anything Nohero says that he claims to be his words when in fact its the words of others..I suggest all other posters sick of his nonsense do the same.

He didn't say that was his own, he posted a link to two websites that had been using it for a few years. I only asked him where he had seen it used. |

Brett, Nohero has been plagiarizing for years. This is nothing new. However, in the past we ignored it because most of us realize without MOL, Nohero has nothing. For his sake, I'm taking the lead because this addiction of his has become alarming. He needs to take a break from MOL, and figure out exactly what it is he wants to accomplish here. If he wants to prove how smart he is, he can do so, but he'll have to do it in his own words. Afterall, that's the name of the game. Look, other posters such as myself, Tom Reingold, Duncan, Tom, Sbeonis, Dave Ross etc. speak our minds and we do so using our own thoughts. This is not the case with Nohero who constantly comes off sounding like a phony because he steals ideas from random web sites. As a matter of fact this weekend, a few of us posters got together and pretty much spent an hour discussing how lame and full of crap Nohero posts have become.

If you don't like what he says ignore him. Just like a radio or TV, just turn him out. As far as I am concerned, anyone can write, or post whatever they want. |

It looks like Nohero changed "Asshat"© to "Assclown". Assclown is much much funnier. And not plagiarized, either. This Nohero guy is great! |

Plagiarism has never been easier than it is today. Before the Internet, cheating was labor-intensive and obvious. Potential plagiarists had to find appropriate works from a limited pool of resources, usually a nearby library, and copy them by hand. Since these resources were almost always professionally written, the risk of detection was very high. The Internet now makes it easy to find thousands of relevant sources in seconds, and in the space of a few minutes plagiarists can find, copy, and paste together an entire term paper or essay. Because much of the material online is produced by other students, it is often difficult or impossible for educators to identify plagiarism based on expectations of student-level work. Even when an instructor does suspect plagiarism, the sheer size of the Internet seems to work in the plagiarist's favor. Search engines can be useful for tracking down suspect passages, but even they have their limitations, given the number, variety, and password-protected nature of many websites. Even where search engines do prove useful, manually searching the Internet for matches of hundreds of student papers can be a formidable task. Additionally, the seemingly "public" nature of online content blurs the distinction between publicly and privately owned information. Electronic resources, by nature easily reproducible, are not perceived as "intellectual property" in the same way that their material counterparts are. Just as file transfer programs such as Napster make it easy to trade copyrighted music files most people would never think to steal in physical form, the Internet makes plagiarism easy for students who might have thought twice about copying from a book or published article. Perhaps the greatest resources for would-be plagiarists are the hundreds of online paper-mills, or "cheatsites", that exist solely for the purpose of providing students with quick-fix homework and term-paper solutions. Many of these services contain hundreds of thousands of papers on a wide variety of topics, and some even offer customized papers for an additional fee. The fact that many of these sites have become profitable ventures (complete with paid advertising!) only attests to the unfortunate truth that plagiarism has become a booming industry. |

Assclown makes no sense. It's not even funny. Neither is Asshat. What does that mean? |

Addy, if you suspect plagiarism, it's easy to check by googling a sample of text or two from the suspect text. Of course, this only works if you have a suspicion in the first place. Tom Reingold the prissy-pants There is nothing

With folks like Nohero, plagiarism is a work of art. He will mix and match words so the search is hard to conduct. If Nohero spent as much time researching rather than stealing the thoughts of others, he'd be doing himself a service we could all appreciate. |

"As a matter of fact this weekend, a few of us posters got together and pretty much spent an hour discussing how lame and full of crap Nohero posts have become" That seems like an hour well spent..a better use of time than researching, posting links or plagiarizing! In retrospect, does anyone wish they could have that hour back? |

Not really, it came during a good party with plenty of booze. MOL is fun to talk about when fellow posters get together. Hank, your wine cellar was also a topic during the get together. |

I dont really care, straw, so your insinuation is wasted. My point is that you engage in "plagerizing" as much as anyone out here so your post was ridiculous. Thats all. Alls Well That Ends Well. Playing through March 7. info at http://www.hometown.aol.com/theatr1010/ |

This whole thread feels very 6th grade to me. How old are you, Straw, that you come online and tell another poster that you and several other posters were making fun of him IRL this weekend? Are you part of the Kool Kidz Klub? You talk about NoHero having an "addiction" to MOL and then in the next breath, you go on to say how you actually spend your time offline gossiping about MOL. Pot, kettle, indeed. Here's the clue you so desperately need: If a word comes into use on a website or forum to which you belong (such as "asshat", which is regularly used in a forum I belong to), and you then use the word in another forum? Not plagiarism. Otherwise, any word you ever used that you heard someone else use first, would constitute plagiarism. Pretty silly. Oh and psst, can I see your slam book? |
