About to start an IVF cycle at Diamond Institute. Does anyone have any thoughts/experiences to share on treatment at Diamond? Also, has anyone used St. Barnabas for fertility treaments? We are thinking of broadening our options. Thanks in advance. Please feel free to privateline me if you'd rather. |

sorry, but we didn't feel any tender loving care at Diamond. We went to Reproductive Medical Associates in Morristown and it was like a different world and we couldn't have been happier with them from top to bottom. AND we had success. see their website http://www.rmanj.com/ private line with additional questions Good luck |

We went to NYU in Manhattan and were very successful (3 beautiful children). I have been told that the three best IVF centers in the area are NYU, New York Hospital and St. Barnabas. Best of Luck! |

I don't want to bash, but I did a lot of research on this topic and I did not hear anything good about Diamond. I have heard good things about RMA and St. B, but we ultimately chose to use Cornell in the city ourselves (and had wonderful success in the form of twins who are now 14 months). Private line me if you would like more info. Good luck! |

No time to post now, but I think that I have a long-ish posting on this in a thread on fertility clinics somewhere in the archives! |

I went to the Diamond Institute and did not have a very positive experience. I question some of their practices and their statistics are not very good. The two best clinics in this area are RMA and St. Barnabas. They both have their advantages and disadvantages though both have good statistics because they have good labs. If you're needing IVF, this is probably the most important factor. At RMA, I would recommend Dr. Scott. At St. B, I recommend Dr. Chen. St. B is going through some changes. They have recently privatized and are no longer part of the hospital though their clinic is still in the hospital. Their top doctor also left and they seem a bit disorganized and some of the doctors seem a bit burned out. If I can be of more help (unfortunately, I am quite familiar with the infertility world though we are finally pregnant) please feel free to private line me. Good luck to you. It's a rough road and if it finally works, it's all worth it in the end. |

We went to Diamond a couple of years back. Unfortunatly, I don't have anything to compare them to, but after 3 IUI's and 1 IVF we were successful in getting pregnant. While I can see some of the points posted here, the majority of the staff and Drs. we dealt with were quite caring and professional. Previous to reading these posts we only heard good things about them. Whatever you decide to do, I do wish you Good Luck. Hang in there and as posted above if you do have success, all the hard work will pay off. |

We used both Diamond and RMA and, while I achieved pregnancies on the first attempt at both, I emphatically recommend RMA over diamond. I could not believe how much more positive an experience I had at RMA. THe nurses, docs, waiting room, feedback, tlc, you name it. RMA is awesome and I do encourage you to check them. I would steer clear of Diamond Institute - it is genuinely a factory. |

Thanks so very much to all who've responded and shared their own experiences and outcomes. It is so great to be able get feedback from a caring community; it makes a stressful time more manageable to see that our own misgivings weren't unique. We've put the brakes on Diamond and are pursuing St. Barnabas and RMA with a renewed sense of hope. Thanks again to all for the fellow-feeling and insight, and to those that so kindly offered to respond private-line to any questions - we might be taking you up once we meet with RMA. Please feel free to keep adding any thoughts you may have on this topic. |

It's been a while since I've studied this area. Since this field changes so rapidly, what I say may be out of date. With that said, in my opinion success rate is THE MOST important factor to choosing your clinic. However, you have to look beyond the numbers. Centers can manipulate numbers by only accepting easy to treat patients. Some centers specialize in older women and may have poorer numbers as a result. Ask tough questions as age, who they treat, go with physician referrals. The first IVF baby was born in 1978, the field is changing constantly. This means Fertility is more ART than Science. Your doctor MAKES a difference. The goal is to get a baby, so I would choose success and skill over bed side manners. When it comes to IVF, one of the hidden success factors is the lab and embryologist. Afterall, they choose which fertilized eggs are most viable, they take care of the delicate eggs, they get egg and sperm to fertilize. The doctor manages the decisions (ie when to start/stop cycles, change drugs doses etc,.) One of the most prominent names in this area (based on 5 years ago) was Richard Scott (of RMA) There are only a few docs in this field nationwide, and when I worked in the field, he was considered a thought leader and pioneer. He would be considered one of the top 5 in the country at that time. He used to be part of St. Barnabas and now changed affiliations to Morristown Hospital. Z. Rosenwaks is another top thought leader. At one point many considered him THE TOP doctor in the field. He is part of CRMI (Cornell university)located in Manhattan. I wish I was still involved in this area so I could give you a more up to date list. Good Luck |
