I just noticed a chip of paint is missing in the "drum" of my washing machine...it looks rusty. Obviously I don't want rust getting on clean clothes.

Should I just paint over the chip with a waterproof paint or is there something else I should do?

I believe there are touch up paints for porcelain. You may want to check HD or Jacoby Appliance on Springfield Avenue.

Home Depot has touch up paint for bathtubs, toilets, sinks, etc. which probably could work in a clothes washer.
