I've used him in the past. If any of you are old enough to remember the old Good Humor trucks with their distinctive bells... Jingle lingel ling??? He drives up and down the street and instead of children running with pocket change for a "Bomb Pop" middle aged folk come running out of their homes and garages with knives and shovels and pruning shears and lawn mover blades waiting for a new edge on their dull cutlery and such. He reminds me that spring has finally arrived! :-)

I remember him too, when my kids were little. He would drive slowly down the side of the road ringing his bells. It was always a welcomed sound. We all went running with our stuff, it was like a party. We would stand there and socialize while he did our knives. I listend for him all last summer but he never came. I figured he retired, since has been doing this since the 1970s!

Another alternative is Buncher's in Millburn. I recently had 4 knives sharpened there for about $20. The knives were horribly dull and they did a pretty good job with them. The only drawback was that they send the knives out so it took a week until I got them back.
