There should be another statistic: posts worth reading. Then everyone can be assigned a "worthiness" quotient equal to the number of posts divided by the number of posts worth reading. I imagine for most posters, the higher the absolute number of posts, the lower the worthiness quotient. |

How about 5000 and not noticing. I really gotta get a life. For the record I have been posting since 1999 and in a lot of different areas; politics, education, home improvement, etc. Still I gotta get a life!! |

I am my own boss!! And I think I waste entirely too much time out here. "The truth is always a compound of two half- truths, and you never reach it, because there is always something more to say."-- Tom Stoppard |

what's an appropriate observance of 2,000? congratulations? condolences? whatever, Ed. (Here's where that beer icon would have gone, if we still had it.)

I was going to make a comment along the lines of "Ed- seriously. Get a life". Then I noticed how many posts I have. |

Kathy: Hoisted by my own petard of innumeracy. One has to be careful with those petards. You are correct; the numerator should be worthy posts, the denominator the total number. Thus worthiness quotient would be some fraction with a maximum value of 1. |

BTW, CFA: If my boss could think, my post # wouldn't be so high! Seriously, I am here so many hours, I don't deprive myself of "mental health breaks". I also work at home evenings & weekend just to keep up. Well, I used to. The Spouse and I recently agreed that I would cut back on that. Days when I'm on a lot, you know that someone did something really stupid & I'm taking a loooong time-out, rather than telling them what I really think . I like to take whatever actions I need in order to stop myself from acting out CLMs (career limiting moves). |
