We are looking to replace our kitchen counters with stone of some kind. Any suggestions for places to shop for such counters here in NJ (other than Expo -which doesn't quite do it for us)? Thanks.

We went to American Stone on Rte 22 W in Hillsdale. The slabs are right there, along with the fabrication shop. I think we did pretty well, price wise.

I also liked that we got to pick out our slab & specify which part of the slab we wanted in particular locations. There is a really cool swirl that will be part of the breakfast bar.

They are mostly granite, but there is some marble. We were advised against soapstone, since it will be a very heavily used kitchen (can't remember why -staining? maintenance?).
