For all of our kind Maplewood and South Orange neighbors that have offered to help us look for Rozzie: We will be leaving an envelope filled with fliers about rozzie on our front porch (50 Bowdoin st. between Harvard and Prospect). If you feel up to it you could take a few and pass them out wherever you go or to your neighbors or even in surrounding towns when you venture there. Dog owners could drop them off at vets or pet stores....Of course we are doing all this too but,it is just the two of us and often one of us is busy with our little girl. We figure the more people passing out the fliers the better chances we have of finding Rozzie. We understand this is alot to ask but, we assume you will only take us up on this favor if you are able to. Thank you again for your kindness, concern and help. We appreciate it more than we can say. -Joel,Melissa and Elena |

Good morning, No, not found yet, but last night we got potentially the most recent news yet. She was spotted at around 7:30pm last night on Rutgers between Springfield and Burnett Ave. If it was her, the woman who kindly called said that she was just walking up and down the street, stopped when her name was called, but would not come. We could not find her in the rain for three hours, but she must have taken cover (if it was her -- the woman wasn't positive, but her daughter was -- it was dark, wet, and she is small). About to go out now and comb that area. Thanks again for your concern! Joel and Melissa |

I am available from approx. 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. tonight. I have been driving through that general area (Vaux Hall/Springfield/Burnett) during the past few days and, as recently as today, I checked with the postal workers delivering in the area. It sure would be nice to have good news on this. |

Hello everybody. No Rozzie yet, but some potentially encouraging signs. She seems to be hovering around Rutgers between Springfield and Burnett Ave. We had three more sightings of her today all on or around Rutgers, and while I did see a different stray dog in that area, we had confirmation that the dog sighted the night before in the rain on Rutgers was definitely a silky/yorkie-size dog. So we are holding out hope. Many many thanks to our new friends who showed up tonight to help look! Strummer was there this evening putting in looong hours in the cold, as were others. We are very grateful. Now if only this weather would break and we could catch lightning in a bottle. I feel like we are close and just need a little luck. Unfortunately, tomorrow will be the first day where we cannot be on top of it all day. I will probably be there in the evening hours, but I may miss most of the daytime... If anyone is in that area, it would be great if you could keep an eye out for a small, eight pound silky. From all accounts, she is keeping her distance, but a loud, "ROZZIE." followed by a firm "Stay, stay," may keep her in her tracks long enough for a gentle approach. Good night everyone. Joel and Melis

Well, I drove up and down Rutgers, Prospect, Indiana, Wellesley, Burnett and the other local streets tonight from approx. 10:00 to 11:00. No luck. Probably because it was a bit cool and a bit late, I saw a grand total of 1 cat. Jeez. My high beams were going on and off so many times tonight that I was certain it was just a matter of time until someone reported a suspicious light brown Saturn cruising the streets! I'm around tomorrow so I will swing by on and off during the day. |

No luck this afternoon. I drove the area from 1:00 to 2:30, spoke with postal workers and utility workers in the area and just about all of the people I spoke with were aware of the search. I have a question as to the sightings so far. Has your dog been seen walking in the street, on the sidewalk, up on private property, no typical pattern? |

martyt Thank you for giving so much of your time -- and for a dog and people you have never met! It is so appreciated. Rozzie spent eleven years of her life in New York City, so she is conditioned to walk on the sidewalks in general. However, the night she was spotted on Rutgers in the rain, she was running across the street from one driveway to another, back and forth in a pattern. When agitated, she would run in circles or back and forth, so this is understood by us to be typical Roz behavior. I am assuming that she runs into people's yards when finding shelter or getting away from things she finds threatening, but will walk on the sidewalks otherwise. The Verizon workers said that she just walked up to their truck via the sidewalk, then walked down the block also on the sidewalk. Hope that helps. And again, many thanks. Joel and Melis |

Hi JMFSO, If there can be a silver lining in all of this, it bears repeating that Melis and I are overwhelmed by the support so many people are showing. Thank you for your time and your caring. Even though today was the best day all week weather-wise, I know quite well how cold it can be in the early hours. To do that on my family's behalf is so appreciated. We've hit a bit of a wall emotionally. Since we are both freelance workers, thus far we have basically made this the main focus of our lives. We have searched for Rozzie every waking moment for the last eight and a half days, and we are fried. How many highs and lows can a person take from sunup to sundown? Today, Melis had some work she needed to attend to; tomorrow, it's my turn. The weather, as if to further torture us, is supposed to turn once again to rain and snow over the coming days. I find myself hoping that these reports of Roz still outside are false and that she has been picked up by a kindly soul who is keeping her fed and warm *inside.* We are doing everything we can, of that I am certain, and because of that, I am trying to release the thoughts of all the things I think I could have done *better.* Essentially, we have no control of this situation; our little Rozzie is lost, and we can only do such small-seeming things to get her back, to protect her. Tonight we found petlocator.org -- a godsend, really. It's an organization based in Kansas, MO that basically sends out detailed fliers of your pet to every pet-related business/organization within a 50 mile radius of your pet's disappearance location. For all of our posting, this is a one stop e-mail burst that can cover ground we could never dream of reaching. My only regret is that we did not have this resource to supplement our search earlier, and I only pray that, as a tool, it has not lost much of its effectiveness in our delay. Of course, we are still searching and will continue to search until we find her. I'm just frustrated and very tired and writing aloud. Forgive the vent.. JMFSO... looking at the places you covered this morning... that's quite a range of places, isn't it? I know that must have taken a lot of time and effort. It seems to encompass several different worlds over a few short blocks. Good night, folks. Joel

in irvington, Lyons at Springfield at 8:30 AM. She took off down Lyons, went R one block in. Tiny, blondish, more Yorky looking than the dog in the Pic, but you never know. |
