Take a step back in time this weekend at the Loews Jersey City theatre - all 3000 seats viewing a single monster sized screen. This theatre is currently being restored to its 1929 opening day look and feel.

This weekend, they're showing 3 great films: Sabrina, staring Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn; 1-2-3 Starring Jimmy Cagney; and a movie called "Some Like It Hot", never heard of that one.

A few months ago I took the family to see an Abbott and Costello movie in this Jersey City theatre (the PATH train is across the street so you can take NJT and get there) and the experience was simply mind-boggling. When you step through the doors you feel like you've gone back in time. It's very weird.

Don't miss it!

tell folks too they can get on a mailing list and receive notifications of movie events in advance...we were going to take the kids to see "Scrooge the Musical" back in December but got snowed out. Ticket and snack prices are incredibly reasonable to see a movie on a truly big screen, not some conference room sized screen.

"Some Like it Hot" is a 1950s comedy starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon. The plot involves the Tony and Jack characters running from the Mob or some other dubious organization, hooking up with Marilyn and disguising themselves as women. If I recall correctly Tony was really ugly, but Jack wasn't half bad and there is also Marilyn, who never looked bad. :-)

1, 2, 3 is one of the funniest films I have ever seen. It doesn't work as well on network TV with its frequent commercial breaks because the film relies on its unrelenting pace to support the humor.

See it if you can.

How often do they have shows? The website does not have a schedule of upcoming events and I can’t make it this weekend.
