Having spent my third weekend in a row dealing with a dirty surging boiler, I'm determined to make sure this never happens again. Can anyone recommend a local water treatment? Palmer sells the Utility chemicals stuff, but I have my doubts about it, the guy I spoke to seemed a bit vague on what exactly it was doing. Has anyone used Rhomar Water, or know where they have a local distributor? I'm looking for both a cleaner and a post-cleaning treatment. |

I use Utility products all the time. They work great but you need to check with the Mfg of your boiler for their recommendations. Some boilers have parts that can be rotted by some of the cleaners. I know that Utility is recommended by Slant-fin and Utica. The guy at Palmer, and I think I know exactly who he is, get real vague when he senses that you are not a plumber and he will never represent the requirements of a Mfg, to protect himself if you use something and destroy the boiler. Heatinghelp.com will get you in touch with most of the Mfg. reps for a quick reply. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic. |
