Blowback compared to what, I say? I heard on 880AM this morning that Israel pre-empted some big chemical factory hit by Hamas that would have killed hundreds in one shot.

The best part of Sharon's statement after the hit is that Isreal's war on these guys would not stop but would continue.

I think it's great that they took out an old guy in a wheelchair with three missiles. Definately sends a message to the rest of those scumbags.

This is going to cause some bad 'retaliation'. As much as Hamas, et.al are horrible people, Sharon is the one who takes the price for repeatedly escalating this war.

Where is Bush's war on terror here? He has to put more pressure on both parties here, because since 9/11 this war is also fought on US soil.

Yassin was murderous scum. So is Arafat. And if the West Bank and Gaza became free tomorrow, they would be third-world ratholes, ruled over by a corrupt elite, dependent on Israel for jobs and economic activity. That is a given, and idealistic morons (which means, alas, much of the reactive Left) who claim sainthood for these terrorists are fooling themselves into ignoring inconvenient facts.

However, what right-winged fools who revel in the glory of the mailed fist forget is that force begets force, and violence spurs yet more violence. That too is an empirical fact, borne out by the events of the last ten years.

What is the endgame here? Peace in the Middle East will not be achieved by the Israeli's walling themselves off, or by blowing up half of the housing on the West Bank. Nor will it be achieved by fomenting a mass insanity among Palestinians that acts of self-destructive terror will convince the Israeli's to grant them statehood.

The only real solution is regime change in Jordan. Jordan is Palestine, and its corrupt, non-Palestinian rulers should be offered either safe-conduct out, or execution. Then a viable Palestinian state can be established there.

This is the only viable solution. The question is, how do we get there?

I love how "regime change" has become fashionable to say.

The palestinians were there before the Jews. No one is denying the Jews a national homeland, but the Palestinians deserve one also - on the
West Bank.

However, Cato Nova is largely correct in his depiction of the current state of affairs. Just another Third World dictatorship would arise. Unless the Palestinians get their existing house in order.

Actually the Palestinians were not there before the Jews. If you have ever been to Israel and visited Jerusalem you would plainly see that the famous dome is built on top of I believe King David or Saul's temple. This is not something that is written and cannot be traced, it is there for anyone to see.

Agree Palestinians should have a homeland and if they find a leader who really wants peace and not just lip service, they will have their homeland on the West Bank.
