We're going to be doing some pretty extensive remodeling and would like to save our old pine floors where possible. They're the thin strips used in many of the houses around here. We'll need to add new flooring to areas where we are removing walls and would like to have the same flooring in the kitchen. Has anyone had any luck in matching new flooring or reclaimed flooring to the wood in their existing floors? If so, who did your work? Thanks for any responses.

Have you checked your attic flooring? Many of the houses I have been in have dumped all of the excess flooring material in the attic. Ours has the wide pine subflooring as well as the oak and pine flooring. Not much but more than enough for patching. Also any spaces in closets, under cabinets/appliances should be fair game for color matching. Good Luck.
