Is anyone familiar with this area of LBI? Are there things to do within walking distance, playgrounds for kids , geneal atmosphere? I am thinking about renting there and I would appreciate any help.

My grandparents owned in Peahala Park when I was little. It is only about 5-10 blocks long - one of the zillion little parts of LBI that are technically part of "Long Beach Township". The beach and the houses are not really any different than any place else on that side of the island (which is plenty nice, just not as exclusive as the other side.) It's where the ACME is - which is good or bad depending. Not walking distance to much, but a quick bike or car ride to Beach Haven - where all the action is. There is a very popular ice cream place right around there, too.

I would say that the Boulevard (the main strip) right there is not so attractive - there's a big water tower and the ACME supermarket, but up by the beach, or down by the bay is nice.
