Tonight, beginning at 7:30 PM, the township committee will be holding a FINAL PUBLIC MEETING on the site selection for the Maplewood Police Building.

This is your last chance to give your opinion on the matter. No decision will be made until after the public comments.

If you want to get some information on the subject, I recommend that you read the thread named “New police station?” in the Soapbox section.

With the decision being made right after the comments, that means the comments are just a pose down. The winner's already been decided and the TC's only doing their bit for hegemony.

One way or another, a decision has been promised for tonight. That's better than letting the decision making process drag on forever.

Joan, do you mean it's better to make the decision tonight and allow our tax payments to pay for it drag on forever?

I'm not sure what you mean by one way or the other, but I guess if the township committee put their ducks in a row, we'll have a decision tonight.

I would like to see this behind us as much as anyone. However, if they don't provide full disclosure, trust me, they won't be making the decision tonight!

Art:

The longer we wait to replace the Police Station Building, the more expensive it will be for us tax payers.

The longer we wait to address the problems with the existing structure, the lower the morale within the police department will go, the more police officers will leave, the more it will cost us tax payers to pay for training new police officers and overstaffing existing police posts until the rookies can learn their job.

The tax payers of this town have been debating the best location for the police station for long enough. We have spent money unnecessarily for site studies, environmental studies, architect's plans, appaisals, and a host of related professional services and have little or nothing to show for most of it.

Everyone has had ample time to express their opinion and present a whole slew of proported facts. The fact finding phase has to end sometime.

The final vote needs to ber taken now and then the town has to act on the TC's decision ASAP.
