Is South Orange planning an Independence Day celebration? I ask because there was nothing in the Gaslight and no schedule in the News Record. Anyone know?

There was a huge pullout section in the Gaslight. I guess it fell out of yours.

Darn! Can you post some of the highlights? Did they schedule the cop/fireman softball game that gets cancelled every year when the cops are all called in on OT? What bands are playing? Most importantly, who's doing the fireworks?

What is the meaning of life?

You two actually got your Gaslight? We don't get ours until after everything has happened. You're lucky.

Growler, I actually read a copy while waiting on the endless line for a pool badge. I rarely receive it in the mail.

But maybe I'll get it in 2006

Well, I received mine in the mail with no problem over a week ago, with the 4th of July insert. Of course, I didn't wait till the last minute to get my pool badge and there was no line to get one even on Primary Day. Think ahead, I say!

Hey, music's great, but there's also Shakespeare in the Park starting tonight (6/26: Merchant of Venice). July 30 is King Lear. Aug. 21 is Measure for Measure.

Absolutely, Growler. Bring plenty of reading material and water. ID required are driver's license, registration, utility bill(phone, gas, water, electric, etc.). I brought everything after I heard from a friend that they're being very particular this year. They're open daily M-Th 9-9, Fri. 9-4:30, Sat-Sun 9-4:30.

Growler, If ya going to the Baird, now might be a good time. It only took my daughter 10-15 minutes. No need for water or reading material. Come on Bet, stop trying to scare people off and make it worse than it is. Sat and Sun are probably busy, I grant you, but that's because so many people waited until the last minute.

For those of us who are Gaslight challenged -- what goes on during the day? Is there fun stuff for little kids, or are we -- gasp! -- better off in Maplewood?

Okay, this has been bugging me. Mr. Rosner, why does the village continue to schedule the public safety softball game between the fire and police departments when it's cancelled every year? Why not just remove it from the schedule??
