Free mattress, boxspring and frame - having extensive work done in the room, before buying new bed-set. You must pick it up. or, any suggestions where I might donate? Maplewood resident. Respond here or call (973)761-1796.

I would be happy to pick up your new bed-set, but I am puzzled why you would buy it just to give it away. As for the boxspring and frame, someone might be interested in taking them off your hands. But personally I would be leary of a used mattress, which we all know you cannot sell, per se. Sbenois might need the mattress for his padded cell.

You'll basically have to throw out the mattress and box spring. No charities will accept used mattresses, nor is it possible to sell them (it might even be illegal!). The frame might sell, but plan on junking the mattresses. Sometimes a mattress retailer will, however, take your old mattress away for free when they deliver a new one. Ask whatever company you're buying the new bed from.

Listen to this: THE MATTRESS FAIRIES TOOK IT AWAY!I got it out to the front curb (with great difficulty/medical problems) on Saturday afternoon with the idea of calling (grrr!) Waste Mngmt. for a Monday morning pick-up, and by Sunday morning, when I went to retrieve my newspapers from the front steps, IT WAS GONE! Boxspring and all. Now, I have this old T.V./remote, and I was wondering if there are, maybe, T.V. elves as well?...

Absolutely. The tv elves (along with every other kind of elf) will usually clear the curb in a blink of the eye. I've put out old ac's, broken tables, etc. The elves appreciate a sign saying FREE on the merchandise, but even that is not a neccessity. Happy trashing!
