Since the Montrose area is a historic district, wouldn't it be nice to have a site about it. Maybe I should ask first - Does one exist?

Whenever I walk through it, I always wonder the history of some of the houses. I know that they give the house tours every year and the South Orange book touches about the history of some of the houses, but I want more information.

What prompted this is a site I came across about Charlotte, NC and their historic sites. You can view it here:

http://www.cmhpf.org/kids/Guideboox/OldHouseGuide.html

This page lists the houses by style and then you can click for more details on particular houses.

The main site of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission is here:

http://www.cmhpf.org/

It's a nice site and if I was web design savy, I would consider creating a site like this. Anyone web savy up for a challenge?

Thanks for the link. I was excited that there was a site, but it doesn't look like it has too much content.

According to the link... new site coming soon!
Does anyone know of any other historic district websites for the S.O. area? I'm trying to learn more about the districts and their locations.

I'm happy to see this thread revived. I would very much like to see more historic information about specific properties in the S.O. area. Hopefully the new website will be a good start!
