I predict the games will end too late at night for most children (and me) to watch them. |

Call me crazy, but... (oops, not my line) this may be the year that the Braves beat the Yanks. |

Braves need to get past the D-backs first. Prediction: rematch of last year. Different result. |

This is the year the Braves win it all. They rolled over their opposition, this past season, with timely hitting, defense and pitching. If you look at their pitching staff they have addressed the problems that plagued them in the past. They finally have decent middle relief (Mike Remlinger) and John Smoltz (my pick for MVP) provides them with a closer capable of pitching more than one or two innings in consecutive games. BTW, anyone notice how many teams lost 90 and 100 or more games this season? Unless MLB is able to address the cash and talent imbalance this is the wave to come. Baseball is more and more resembling basketball and hockey; months of meaningless games, punctuated by three weeks of excitement. Fire Bobby Valentine! |

Potential Mets postseason appearances...golf outings, store openings at malls, community service related to drug use, charity bowling shindigs. As a Yankee fan, I will root for them to win it all..if they dont, like last year, I wont be disappointed..I will be pleased with their successes and their effort and the fact that once again, they were a great team to follow this year. Of all the teams in both leagues, the only team capable of beating them is the A's. |

If I were a betting man (Dave, can we set up a private World Series Pool section?) I'd have to put my money on the Braves this year. I'd give them good odds to win the pennant, and I think they match up well against the Yankees this year. |

My prediction is that the Braves will flame out once again in the playoffs. Despite their record, they finished 10th in the NL in runs scored (only 18 more than the Mets!). Facing playoff caliber pitching every game, they'll be struggling to score. The weak back end of SF's and Arizona's rotations won't matter as much in a short series. |

The Braves are as reliable as the Red Sox. They can't close the deal. Yank Dback rematch. Yanks in 6. (Note AL home field this year.) |

The Yankees will be joining the Mets shortly at the Malls and Bowling Alleys of the Tri-State Area. |

The Yankees at least should be playing through the end of this month..but we now know that as of a little while ago, Bobby V wont be at any Mets-sponsored functions. He should have done a better job keeping Mo away from the buffet table, Ordonez away from the hair dye and the press, and Jodi Turner away from his partying players. |

The Yankees will only be playing through the end of the month if we have 2 weeks of non-stop rain. They are going down, the dynasty is over, turn the page. (Nothing like baseball to bring out the juvenille behavior in a grown man) In fairness Mo is a nice guy who needs to get in shape Ordonez on the other hand is a jack*** |

Mo is a nice guy..but Bobby V. let him slide...and admitted as much. I think that gave Wilpon the opening to get rid of him. George Vecsey has an interesting piece in the Times this past weekend...what would Steinbrenner do with the Mets? He said Phillips would go first, then Bobby V. then he'd back up a truck to the clubhouse door and the only one left standing would be Mike Piazza...on first base. |

Hank, I read the Times piece, it was pretty good if a little exaggarated. I agree for 10 million a year you should be in shape. The players as a whole made more bad decisions in a season than I've seen before. The baserunning was atrocious. I expected it from Payton, Perez and McEwing, but not from Alomar. For a guy who is hailed as the smartest player in Baseball I saw more bad baserunning and decision making. The Mets need some serious coaching in baserunning and fundamentals and as much as I love Mookie Wilson, I think he and the entire coaching staff (excluding Chambliss) needs to go. Well wait till next year!!

If the D-Backs get past the Cards and in a short series I think they will. It's the Snakes in 7 again! Beating (the 2nd best team) the Yankees again.

Wow, what a night. A great night at the stadium. Beautiful weather and a great view from Bleachers row Z. Back and forth, Yankees up, Angels up, tie game. As the Times points out today we were all scratching our heads waiting for Sciosia to bring in Percival. Can the young Angels bounce back from this crushing loss. Stay tuned, they are certainly scrapy. In other news WOW Randy gets hammered big time and once he's gone the Dbacks lack of a bullpen really shows. 12-2 loss at home. The Dbacks may not make it out of round 1. Schilling has founder of late and they need to get at least one win from someone else. Of the teams that lost last night I think the A's are in the least danger, but we will see, that kind of sloppy ball won't get them to the Series. |

Angels lose because they have poor middle relief and Sciosia makes big mistake not bringing in Troy Perceval. Yankee hitters once again show why they are the smartest hitters in baseball. They work the count looking for a pitch they can drive. In the clutch Bernie Williams is one of the best. Watching him play is a pleasure, even for this Mets fan. With Bobby V. now history and Buck Showalter, Lou Pinella, and Dusty Baker being mentioned as possible successors, who would members from MOL baseball braintrust choose?

Im clearly not a Met fan from my past posts..but Willie Randolph deserves a good look from the Mets. Id say he has a better personality for handling a pressure team than some others may lack. Last night's game did also prove that a team like the Angels can take a page from the Yankees recent tradition of patience at the plate. They certainly benefited from that in last night's game. And finally...watching Bernie Williams glide through the outfield is one of the most graceful sights in baseball. |

Too bad he can only throw a nine-hopper to the plate. Angels will take advantage of that and win in 5. |

Well the Dbacks are clearly toast so I'm going to have to revise mine. I'll go out on a limb and say Yanks over Cards in 6. |

Sorry Andrew. You got it right, up the thread a piece, and were promptly dissed by a "may-the-richest-team-win" type. The Twins are beyond their ken. |
