So, taking a poll for next year:

How much candy did you buy this year?
What kind?
Do you have lots of leftovers?
How many kids did you get?
What would you say were the age ranges?
What is your general neighborhood?

I'm curious because I wasn't home last night & last year was (understandably) slow.

BTW- I'm in Orlando (which, like Las Vegas SUCKS as a business conference destination) but I was in Downtown Disney last night & there were tons of adorable little kids trick or treating. The stores were giving out good candy, too! Wonderballs, full size chocolates, etc.

It was a heart-warming display of commercialism to see all those tiny little Tiggers, Poohs, Mulans, Belles in their $50 costumes. But they were adorable!

- Two Cosco sized bags
- Assorted crap
- 1/3 left over
- about 100 kids, most bussed in from "out of town" and without even a costome or dressed as "kid looking for candy".
- 6mos-18yrs lots and lots of the 16-18yr range, a little old IMO.
- Elmwood area

And BTW, what's with all the high-school aged kids (mostly no-costume types) knocking on doors up to 9PM?!? Is that normal in M/SO?

It sounds like a sign outside is warranted: "Children ages 0-10 only."

Or, give only really bad candy to the older children! Maybe Ex-Lax molded to look like a Hershey bar?

maybe 7 kids. bought two small bags of crunch bars. I wasn't home to give out candy, husband was. When my kid and I stumbled back from the neighbors about 10:45 there was still a big bowl of crunch bars.

Didn't buy ANY candy.
I know...PATHETIC, but my kids just finished one of the 40+ bags of pretzels I bought LAST YEAR. My siblings often send my kids candy, and they don't eat it so I had a bucket full of assorted goodies to give out.
We were at the parade and then went out to dinner, so we didn't get home until after 7pm.
We handed out a handful or so...I think the bell rang twice while we were home.
In the past I left candy outside (one year we had to make a condolence call and once when we had an infant) but after finding the contents strewn about I vowed never to do that again.

107 kids -- all ages -- Maplecrest Area

Bought three bags from Costco -- had two full bags left -- brought one full bag into the office today -- most of the candy was gone by the time I left for the day (and no I didn't eat it all ).

I live on Ridgewood Rd. doorbell rang maybe five times. I have two unopened bags of candy that I will take to work and will be scarfed up in no time by my colleagues.

We had the bell ring once and that was only 1 kid. He scored with the cash since it was late and we knew nobody else would come. We don't buy candy because it's cheaper to give out dollar bills (for the amount of kids we get)

We got over 100 kids on Oberlin Street - the last ones at almost 9 PM. Had to go out and buy more candy. Ended up with only a few lollipops left. All the good candy was taken by the visitors to the door. It was a lot fun seeing all the costumes, especially on the very young kids.

totally dead (pun intended) in the Parker Ave./Boyden Ave. area. MUCH candy left over. I've seen twice as much in driving rain not more than six years ago.

We bought a large bag from Costco. Had to run out at one point and left a bowl out, which of course was empty when we returend.

We saw about 30 kids, mostly neighborhood and kids from our children's schools. We pick up kids on their way home from the Village festivities (Golf Island.)

All in costume - last group around 8:45 - shut out the lights at 9:00 (my trick or treater had to go to sleep.)

We had many fewer kids than in the past--not more than 50. A lot from out of the neighborhood, but at least they were mostly younger kids with parents. The few teenagers were kids I knew, most in costume (except for the temple youth group who were collecting food for a food bank).

Nobody after 9 pm (those missing teenagers again). I have a lot of candy left over. Luckily (?) I only buy stuff I like.
