A small brown dog with a blue color (no name tag) has been hanging around my block at Irving Ave. near Center and Self Street for the past few weeks. When I try to get near she runs away. I want to get her off the street before Winter. I've left messages for Animal Control at the Police Department but I fear it may not lead to any action. It could take a commitment of several hours staking out my block to spot her. Can anyone suggest another source that might help me "capture" this poor dog? I've been leaving food for her so I know she stays in the general area of my house Irving and Center. Is there a shelter or service that would try to get it (I would offer a big donation for the effort)? Does anyone out there want this great puppy/dog for a Christmas gift for the kids? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Rob robfarbman@aol.com or 973-762-9249 |

raf1, I too have seen this dog. She is now down to skin & bones and has a limp. She has been on Self Place in our yard this week. We have left food for her and a blanket to sleep on. But it is still too cold for this dog to be out. I have called the animal control guy each day this week and have gotten nowhere. Says that they're not allowed on properties without permission. Well, if he called back he'd have permission. I even spoke to his boss, so let's see what happens. According to his boss, they have a trap out. I called the Humane Society in Newark and since we have our own animal control person in town they won't help. So, what do we do? Do we let a poor defenseless dog die in the cold? Or do we just keep feeding him and hope he makes it through the winter? |

Good News! The dog has been caught and is in the animal shelter. She has been checked and is fine. Thank you to Mr. Fester, Heath Dept, and Mr. Ash, animal control for their quick work. They came on Wednesday and put a trap in our yard and Mr. Fester called Thursday to let us know Mr. Ash picked up the dog at 6:30 AM that day. Again, thanks for your quick response and happy outcome!
