I was wondering about the neighborhood of North Ridgewood Road, right around the intersection with Montrose and heading towards West Orange. Is it quiet/safe/friendly there? What schools do the kids attend? Is Ridgewood especially noisy/sirens/whatever? Any information would be most helpful. Please privateline or post here. Thanks. |

I have a friend who lives in that area. I don't think that it is particularly noisy. Certainly not sirens etc. Ridgewood is a through street, but I don't think that it gets the same level of traffic as, say, Scotland Road. The school boundaries have been redrawn since my kids were in elementary school, but I think that now the kids on the west side of Ridgewood go to South Mountain and the east side still goes to Marshall/Jefferson. South Orange Middle in either case. |

I have a friend who lives on Ridgewood near Montrose and her only complaint about the road is that headlights shine into her windows. She is on the East (downhill) side of the road. She is still trying to decide on window coverings. |

I lived at the corner of Melrose and Ridgewood for many years. The area is quiet, but there's not much of a neighborhood feel. The folks are friendly, but the busy(ish) streets kind of act as a barrier. There's the occasional speeder. I hardly ever remember a siren. There's no buses, few trucks for road noise. It's a nice area! The homes are lovely. Schools: Columbia for HS, SOMS for MS, (guessing Marshall for K-2, Jefferson for 3-5.) Hope this helps. |
