I saw in the most recent News Record that South Orange is now requesting bids for a cell tower to be placed in the Newstead development.

Is this going to be as massive as the one proposed for Maplewood?

Mr. Rosner, do you know anything about this?

Good spot for one. Nice and high up. We might lose the dead spots in the S's finally.

The cell tower would be on the water tower that is way over by the reservation in N. Newstead. I do not think it is as massive as the one being proposed in Maplewood. When the bids come in we will discuss it at the meeting.
By the way, it has been discussed at meetings several times over the past year and this would seem to be the least obtrusive location.
I guess it is hard for us to have it both ways. A lot of us use cell phones, but at the same time we don't want a cell towers all over the place. This one location would seem to be a fix for most of the dead spots in S. Orange.
I would certainly listen to other suggestions, but just remember that the location is best if we pick a high elevation.

Sounds like a good plan. Interesting to see that the SO cell tower situation isn't causing as much craziness as the MPLWD proposal.

What is the latest news?

It is more like an antenna, but I think it is still referred to as a cell tower. We are waiting for proposals and when those come in, we will know the size, etc.
