Is anyone using the current chatroom at all? I think our old one was a little better because it didn't launch another window - and it did seem pretty well used at the time. We stopped using the old format because it was unreliable. I just tried it today, and it seems to be working. Give it a shot: http://www.maplewoodonline.com/chat/ |

Every time I would check it out, it would be empty. In the early days of the chat rooms, there were semi-scheduled events. Maybe that would get it more use? |

Jaime: We really need some way of knowing if someone else is already in the chat room. We also need for the first poster to enter the chat room to wait at least a couple of seconds before leaving because no one is there. Somebody has to go first! Scheduled events would be a plus, especially to build a following in the chat room. |

http://www.maplewoodonline.com/chat I think I may post a general chat time on the home page, like Wednesdays at 10pm. How does that day and time sound? |

Jamie, My household is usually drop dead drunk by that time on Wednesdays, so that would be perfect for us. See you then. Thanks. |

CSI:Miami is such a pale imitation of of the original that it shouldn't be taken into consideration. So Mondays should be clear. ;) |

Too late for me and the other early birds who try to catch the morning train before the crush hour starts. How about Sunday afternoons? |

I caught about 8 seconds of 'Joe Millionaire' last night (I admit it - I am drawn to 'train wreck' TV) . I'm pretty sure that Monday nights at 9 are a safe bet that no one is watching TV. Although, I guess at this time of year we may lose a few lesbians & straight men to football. Not me, tho - I save my butch moments for cleaning the gutters! Sorry for the thread drift. Seriously - I vote for a little earlier.

No football on Monday nights these days, Greenetree. And I'm a little surprised at your generalization about football fans. I don't fit either category, but I've been a Giants fan since the early '80s. Bad big brother influence, I guess! |

Bets- Shows what I know, huh? I don't even turn ABC on in the evening. My sweeping generalization was pretty much of a joke. In fact, over New Years, we went to Cape Cod with a bunch of friends. The female couples stayed at the upscale inn & the male couples rented a house (where they had to cook and clean up after themselves)& bragged about watching football one afternoon. Of course, that was after brunch. I, too, was influenced by 3 brothers. I think my anti-sports ideology set in after trying to stay true to my roots & being a Browns fan while living in Buffalo. After deciding that my life wasn't worth this empty loyalty (it was the early '80s & the Browns didn't know the meaning of the word 'win'), I gave up on sports altogether. |

Just think how anguished you could've been on Sunday with the Browns losing in the final seconds to Pittsburgh! My brothers were Dallas fans (shudder); I became a Giants fan to spite them. I think that being a Giants fan all these years has taught me much: how to carry on in the face of adversity, to accept defeat with grace, to celebrate each victory to the fullest extent, and never look beyond tomorrow's game. |
