Although I've lived in the area since '88, and have walked in the South Mountain Reservation for all those years, I found something today that just thrilled me. There's a fresh water spring, just up from the parking lot off Glen Ave, that gushes delicious, pure water. I met an elderly man with a cart full of green glass jugs who was filling them, as he has done for over 20 years. He told me the water has been tested up and down, and it really is clean. It certainly is delicious, the best water I've drunk since vacation at Lake George. And, even if it came out of a PVC pipe, it felt so - oh, hobbitty! to fill up my car drinking cup with this free, clean lovely water.
