Anyone who has read this board for more than five minutes knows Jerry Ryan. It is with heavy heart that I am posting the passing of his beloved Da, Joe Ryan. Jerry's father underwent heart surgery that would have guaranteed him at least another 20 years just before Christmas. Unfortunately, there were unforseen complications, and Joe's heart was not able to withstand the battle and he passed on Jan. 20 after many complications. My heart and prayers go to Jerry and his family, as I know that many of us here in Maplewood also do. Please follow the following links to find out more about this wonderful man. Anyone who would like more information about wake/funeral/etc. please contact me at justmelaura@aol.com May the peace and comfort of Our Lord be with the Ryan Family at this time. Justmelaura: Thank you so much for the heads up. People wanting to learn more about Jerry's dad may also wish to read the wonderful entry Jerry posted in "Profiles" under the heading Jerry Ryan's dad. Jerry: I know it may be awhile before you read this but I want to take the opportunity now to wish you my deepest condolences. I know that you have many wonderful memories of your father which will be with you always.

Thanks, all, for your good wishes. There was another article today about a former player of my dad's. My mom likes this one best of all: http://www.silive.com/sports/advance/index.ssf?/base/opinion/1043331318204120.xm l |

What a loving tribute to an apparently wonderful man. How fortunate for you and your siblings to be the first-hand recipients of the presence of such a man. Our condolensces to you and your family. So I am glad not that my loved one has gone But that the earth he laughed and lived on Was my earth, too. That I had known and loved him, And that my love I’d shown. Tears over his departure? Nay a smile That I had walked with him a little while.

"...and, when he shall die, Take him and cut him out in little stars, And he will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun." My condolences Mr. Ryan
