Those of you who rode a NJT train departing Maplewood station after 5:53 AM today and got on at the back of the train may have noticed that one of the MAPLEWOOD signs on the center platform had been covered over with a poster wishing Walt a good retirement after riding the train to/from Maplewood most mornings for 30 years.

On board the 6:10 AM train, the conductor made a nice speech wishing the Walt the best and thanking him for freeing up a seat on the very crowded Midtown Direct train line.

Walt, whether you are reading this or not, I wish you a good retirement and I sincerely hope you will make good your threat to come down to the station some mornings and wish your fellow commuters a good day.

Joan
