HEAVY SNOW WILL SPREAD NORTHWARD AND CONTINUE OVER THE REGION INTO MONDAY EVENING. STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 20 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.

20 inches! Say it's not so! I really hope they're wrong again this time. My back is hurting already just thinking about it. What's the going rate to pay someone to shovel 20 inches.

When the brain dead Fischetti landscaping company quoted me a price, I believe it was something along the lines of $50 for the first 6 inches. It was then $4 an inch after that. An 18 inch snowfall would have run $98 to clear paths, sidewalks and driveway.

We had a standing order for them to clear any accumulations over 6 inches. Since they never showed up when we did have snow, I took great pleasure in telling them to take a hike all year round. What a terrible business man (Michael) Fischetti is.

Please, my husband, the weather fanatic, has been giving me a moment by moment update on this storm for three days now. Everytime I turn around he's camped out on http://www.noaa.gov/ checking every minute directional change of the gulf stream caused by temperature fluctuations (I have no idea what I just said).

Anyway, according to the husband, we will probably just miss getting a huge amount, but everything is subject to change and places very close by will get slammed. Everyone at Pathmark this morning was really filling up the carts so I think something must be up!

Well, gotta go back the cars into the end of driveway (after I get dog food). We are in high storm alert! I have my marching orders...

Holiday weekend, plus massive amounts of snow,
equals major online kvetching for the next few days.

It's certainly snowing now.

I'm about to run out and plant a long stick in the location where I believe the nearest fire hydrant used to be; just in case the fire department needs to locate it before the thaw.

A neighbor parked his car just in front of his garage and it is now providing the base for an especially large snow drift.

Much of the block is already outside with shovels because the concensus is that if they wait much longer they won't be able to get out their doors to reach the snow removal equipment.

I love nice quiet three day weekends.

I love this town!

A couple hours ago, a bunch of the neighbors were out with all the gear. Almost everyone with a snow blower did their own and another house. I (who can't run the snowblower - vibration kills the tendonitis), shoveled areas unreachable by machine. I also made the run to the gas station for more fuel.

We'll be out again in a few hours - a couple of us are going to do the house where the family is stranded out of town.

This is definitely what it means to live in a neighborhood!

Holy %%#$^*, I can't believe how much snow there is out there. I have the lowest-end snow blower Sears sold in 96 and I'm very happy with it, but it's very challenged by this storm. Seems to me there's not quite as much yet as in the 1/96 storm, but there's still some precipitation left in this baby.

I did some other peoples' sidewalks and another front walk but I'm pooped. And I'll have to go out again tormorrow morning to finish off the rest ofthe mess.

How could we get such a big storm? I can't believe the township committee let this happen!

It was/is fantastic. I love the muted sounds when the ground is covered with snow. Sure its hard work but it is certainly rewarding. You know you have accomplished something. And, despite the "hardship" of it all, people are generally good natured about it all. I love my street and the people who live here and, to a person, each of them gave me cause to laugh or smile when I saw them today.

I can't believe it's snowing again. I hope that it won't be more than a couple inches today.
