Due to events beyond our control, the anticipated reopening of the Library has been delayed until the week of March 3,2003. If a South Orange resident with a clear Library card needs to use another Library in Essex County, then can use their ReBL card. Those without a ReBL card can come by the S.O.Library from 10-3 where they can pick one up.
Students in the South Orange/Maplewood School District are eligible for a Maplewood Library card as well. Just go there with proof of attendance
Sorry for the inconvenience

A snowstorm (one event) on a holiday weekend delays the library opening? Who is running the library? NJT?

Dan, my son, always told me that no good deed goes unpunished.
The Library has been closed for extensive renovations for the past 2 weeks. Our scheduled reopening of Feb 24th has been pushed back due to the blizzard of '03. The carpeting was stuck in the warehouse causing the Lan and phone people to delay installation causing the furniture delivery to be delayed, etc, etc, etc.
Anyone who has done any renovations is familiar with this situation.
Scollins, come down to visit us more often. There are plenty of other things in the village of interest.

Nancy,

Thanks for all the good work you do and all the publicity you give to our fine library! I am so excited about seeing the finished product. Considering it's been probably decades since major renovations have been done, a couple of weeks of library withdrawal will be worth it in the end.

Will the new opening date affect the due date of any library books we might have out?

Gozerb, Thanks for the kind words.
It's been forty years or so since the last update, so I would say it is overdue.

However, book overdues stopped acccumulating fines the day we closed(Feb.9th) and fines won't begin again till the library reopens.

All activities, storytime, Book review groups, lectures, will resume once we are open again.

See ya then.
