OK- I know I was venting about perhaps being laid off next week on Soapbox only yesterday. But, then, The Spouse and I have been fantasizing about a winter getaway. Doesn't help that all of our closest friends have had sun in the past two weeks.

I mean, I love winter. But it's even getting to me! So, this morning, I'm hacking away over my keyboard when up pops a Continental.com e-mail. Bahamas - roundtrip for $99! A quick website check yielded a stay 3 nights & get one free offer at a decent resort. So, what can I say?

This weekend, we're going to the Bahamas

At least if I come back to a layoff, I'll be relaxed and tan at the Unemployment office!

Greenetree,
A friend called me last night about this deal as well. We were wondering if it was for real. Anyway, have a great time, and don't worry about work!

Thanks, Mem! Yes- it appears to be very real. I'm walking around singing 'Going to the Bahamas' to the tune of 'Going to the chapel'. Amazing how my mood just perked right up!

And don't worry; the smoking thing does get easier.

It must be the winter blues. We saw a deal on a flight and resort at Key West.

Never been, so I called the wife, and we booked it. Leaving soon.

All I'm saying is, "I'm out'da here!"

George - doesn't it feel almost as good to know you are going as it will to be there?

Greeneyes- if it makes you feel any better, none of my summer clothes fit me. So, I'm going with 2 pairs of shorts & some t-shirts. Oh well. No matter what - I'm going!!

I was on Elbow Cay, Abacos Islands in the Bahamas a few weeks back. It was wonderful, but absolute torture to come back to this weather (and job). Hopefully the weather will be nice here by the time you get back as well! Enjoy!

I'm baaack! Hate to rub it in, but it was great! We were total slugs. Laid on the beach & baked. Even with my #23 sun block, I have some tan (I know, I know...). The big decision was to go in the ocean or order a drink first.

I can now cope with the weather for the next few weeks.

Greenetree,
Welcome back...!
Good timing - Spring is almost here, which is the season that reminds me why I still live in the Northeast.
Cheers!

Bummer!!!

Just got back from Key West. 92 one day 88 most of the rest. Cool sea breezes, warm sand and just nothing to do except relax.

Now I'm back at work and feel like I have a hang-over. (No reason to have one.)

Bummer.

Wow,

That hang-over feeling was real and I had no reason for it. By 4PM I had a fever of 103, a pounding head, stiff neck and a cough.

I ended up at St. Barnabas. Discharged at 3AM and I have pneumonia, I have to check in with a Pulmonoligist today, drugged up the wazoo and I’m not to go to work.

The guess is that I had it for a while and the change in air humidity when I arrived back into Newark was the trigger.

Now that is a fitting end to a vacation.

George-
Hope you feel better soon! Glad you got sick when you came back and not before or during! Well, I'm not glad that you got sick, but you know what I mean...

George,

Take it easy... don't push yourself and let us guys on line know if you need anything at all.

Pneumonia is very serious stuff. We'll be there for you.

George,
Get well soon. At least it means you get to stay away from work longer.
