A friend and I are considering sharing my son's babysitter for some hours during the week. I've never done this before, but what's a fair rate for a babysitter who is taking care of two active young children? |

I know this is a little late, but I am sure people still would like to know what to do! It really dependes on the babysitter's age, experience, etc, but I think it is fair to pay 1 & 1/2 times the normal rate. For example, I am a certified early childhood teacher, and I charge $10/hour. If more than one family was there, I would expect to get paid at least $15/hr. More if there were significantly more children OR one very active one. I have actually not raised my rates in over 3 years, so maybe a good babysitter gets paid more now. Oh, I am also in my late twenties, so that may affect the rate, too. Just remember this...good babysitters are worth paying for. I truly believe that you get what you pay for in this respect. I do not babysit for families that do not treat me well! |

Do you know of any good Babysitter's for the weekends? My husband and I are really scared of leaving our 20 month old with just anyone! We really don't go out, because we don't have anyone to stay with him. |

When we share a sitter, we pay $15/hr. for 2 kids. My sense is that this is pretty standard. |
