I had been using cablevision in so. orange and didn't require a cable box to get their basic service. Now that I'm switching to comcast because I've moved, I was told that I'll need to rent a cable box from them, even for basic service. I've got a cable-ready tv, the signal is still analog, so why the box? I'd like to avoid having the additional box rental charges each month. Thanks. |

That doesn't sound right. We don't use a cable box. You only need it for some premium channels and for pay-per-view. Speak to another rep. |

What #9 says is true. You *would* need a special cable box for digital cable, and Comcast pushes that pretty hard. Perhaps that's what they were referreing to? |

We just got cable with comcast. Basic service no premiums channels and we did not need a cable box. |
