Not familiar with those names, and not sure if he's on your plan, but check Dr. Cotler in Millburn. We like him a lot.

I was a patient of Dr.Edith Halvorson until I was too old for a pediatrician. I would definitely recommend her!

Dr.'s Vecchio and Albanese look after our son and they are almost good cop/bad cop. You will never see anyone faster with an injection than Albanese but he can seem a little gruff to new parents, such as we are. Dr. Vecchio is wonderful and patient and careful. They are conservative in their treatments and nearby as well.

We use Dr. Diaz of the Summit Medical Group - he's out of the Short Hills office. He's great with my 2 year old.

I take my children to Dr. Albanese and Dr. Vecchio and we adore them. I don't agree with the good cop/bad cop comment above. I think that Dr. Albanese is very kind and has always taken a lot of time with us and explained things that non-medical people don't know. And just last Sunday (palm sunday) he met us at the office a 8 am to check out our daughter who had strep. We called him via the service at 8 pm on Saturday night. That's service!
Another thing that I like about them is that the DOCTORS give the shots. A lot of my friends who go to other pediatricians tell me that the nurses administer the shots, which I would not be 100% comforatable with. And yes the person above is right about Dr. Albanese being super fast with shots...which is a blessing!
I highly recommend them.

I agree with Dr. Diaz in SMG and I also like Dr. Palfy and Dr. Bender (who is my dd's Ped) in the same office. I have seen them all and am very comfortable with their group. Not crazy about the nurses there though.

Love, Love, Love Dr. Veccio, Tambarella and Albanese. My daughter was just in the hospital for 8 days and they were wonderful. They are all nice but Dr. Veccio is my favorite. She is so down to earth and I feel she really listens to me. They are also very thorough. It is also very easy to get a same day visit when my kids are sick. They have never turned me away. Also, quick response time during weekends when you call the service.

Good Luck!

We use and love the Gruenwald/Comandatore practice also, but they weren't on Lynnear's list (see first post in this thread) so apparently are not an option for them.

Dr. Vecchio is wonderful. She's really excellent with explaining women's health issues to adolescents. She is also great about calling in prescriptions without an office visit.

third vote for Dr. Gruenwald. possibly not on your list because you only looked for doctors in Short Hills? maybe check your plan under Millburn. of course if you have an option to switch plans at your company's crossover....

You'd probably need a phone book for that. But many of the most oft recommended ones are nearby towns, so you might want to look a bit wider than Maplewood.

Or, if your plan has a website, you might be able to do a search there, by zipcode and/or radius from zipcode. (I know this is possible with Oxford, and others.)

There are several recs here and in some other recent threads if you want some starting points.

I'll throw in another pitch for Gruenwald, Commandatore, and Sterio, nearby in Milburn, 973-763-7990.

We have been very pleased with Kids Docs (Vecchio/Albanese/Tamborello). Good luck!
