How about 'walking really fast on the treadmill, throwing a mile of jogging in'? I've actually been using my treadmill & my shoes are old. I've also been alternating outside a bit on the rare nice days. Now that I'm more regular on the exercise thing, I want to buy decent shoes without getting screwed. They specialize in Saucony and it's owned by and staffed by runners.
