Since this doesn't seem to fit any any of the existing threads, I thought I'd start a new topic. I want to respond to something Mark said in the Trustee Election posting section. Specifically: My point about the picture being deceptive is that you do not disclose that a new structure was approved by the planning board and that work has started. Mark, hanging a construction company sign on a building does not indicate that work is being done there. There is no activity, other than the removal of a compressor that was a private transaction between citizens and not part of prepping the construction site. I find it a little disturbing to see you insist over and over again that "work has begun" when the reality is that nothing has been done to the site! |

During the first two weeks after the sign went up, asbestos was being removed from the structures. Then the fire department did training there for four days. This week, they have been removing material from the building. They plan to start tearing down the buildings this Friday. It might start tomorrow or it might start early next week depending on how quickly they work. One would think that Mr. Beifus would want this built as quickly as possible. The point is that plans were approved and permits were applied for yet there was no disclosure of that in the brochure. The reality is that work has begun and the speed of the work is determined by Mr. Beifus, not the village. That would be the case no matter who sits on the BOT.

I for one have no doubt that work has begun. I do doubt that the timing of the demolition just happens to coincide with the election. It fits right in with the fence around the arts center. Things are really happening, baby! _____________________ Vote Line B on May 13 Open South Orange |

Sometimes the narrowness of the arguments gets in the way of reasonable discussion. Okay, Mark doesn't like the picture because it fails to present the most current status for the Beifus property. I don't like the incumbent claim that the site is "under construction" because they don't cop to seven years of waiting for something to happen. You decide: have things moved ahead on a timely enough basis for the good of the community? www.opensouthorange.com Vote Line B on May 13th

More questions regarding threads in the candidate's section: Mark, you countered Eric Devaris's quote of Bill Calabrese's comments regarding changes to the plans of SOPAC by saying: By the way, for those that do not know, there were many others in those meetings including Mr. DeVaris. All the changes were agreed to by the majority. There were no objections presented to the BOT by any of those participants. Yet, Eric was not holding the purse strings and was not the one who said “don’t worry, we’ll find the money”. I think it's disingenuous to try placing the burden of SOPAC's stall on community volunteers. |

I agree with you bets - it is very disingenious to blame volunteers for something. Eric is blaming Dave and Bill. They were volunteers too. I also think it is unfair to take one statement that might be out of context. I never placed the blame on the volunteers. I placed the blame on the architectual firm. I have been very clear about that. Remember to Vote Line A on May 13th www.leadershipwithvision.org
