I'm thinking of joining a gym (again!) -- any opinions about this new one? How about the Bodies in Motion classes on Valley Street? Thanks!

My husband and I both like Motion Fitness a great deal. Staff are really friendly and approachable, and if they get the signal you aren't interested in all of extras (massage, personal training) they will back off. That being said, the personal trainers seem to do a pretty good business. The place is extremely clean, we go all different times and are able to get machines.

I haven't been to a Curves in NJ (I know they are there) but I belong to one in Cincinnati & love it. It is nice to go to a place w/women only (no worrying about how you look) & have a program tailored to women. Everyone is extremely supportive. I highly suggest checking it out.

Algebra2,

I hope that the one in South Orange is as great as the one to which I belong.

I just called to get the scoop, sounds like there's an initial fee of $149 which is now being discounted to $49 (a grand opening sale, or something like that), and then it's either $39/month with a one year committment, or $49/month if you want to do it on a month-to-month basis. I didn't ask about childcare, but it sounds like a smallish start-up, so my guesss would be that they don't offer it, but you might want to call and ask just to be sure.

The YMCA in Summit or Springfield is also great. They have babysitting, very friendly staff, offer pretty much everything AND there is no contract. You join month to month! My kids love the babysitting and I get a good workout!

I've been in alot of a gyms in my day and I've been very happy at Motion. It's clean, friendly and has a good mix of classes. I use the daycare 3 days a week and they do a great job of keeping the kids entertained and helping new kids ajdust. They will do everything they can to let you work out. I've also never had to wait for a machine or a shower which is important to me. I really like it.
