The just-turned-16 yr old DESPERATELY wants to drive, and our understanding is drivers' ed (behind the wheel) is required? Or at the very least, results in lower insurance rates. Any advice out there: reliable schools? going rate? etc etc? Any and all advice appreciated.

Contact the Adult School at CHS. They have an arrangement with TopDriver, I believe, for behind the wheel training. My kids used them, and between the two of them it only took 3 tries for them both to get their licenses

I've just signed my own 16-year-old up with Silbernagel, on Millburn Ave in M'wood. He comes very highly recommended; I know quite a few people who have used him. And he takes care of everything.

I second RT's rec. Silbernagel is the best (he's been around the block a few -thousand- times). And it's true he does everything -- he not only taught my daughter how to drive but scheduled AND took her to the road test. She not only passed, but four years later is a really good driver. Something I, a nervous mom, could not have done myself. Call Silbernagel, you will have NO regrets.

It's about $300 for everything described above.
