I took a couple of days away from MOL (the keyboard is cooler now...), and I wanted to come back to post a big "thank you" to the many people who attended coffees, wrote e-mails, posted on MOL, visited us at our "meet the candidates" night at Bunny's, stopped by on Sloan Street or just grabbed one of us while we were shopping to ask about the issues. We were committed from the outset to running a campaign focused on the future of South Orange, and it really helped us all to have the kinds of conversations that deepen community understanding of the issues and choices we face in South Orange. Eric, David and I very much appreciated that opportunity. Please accept my thanks for the significant interest, engagement and support provided throughout our campaign. I think it helps greatly to have an election contested on issues and ideas, all of which shapes the tone and activity of the next four years. |

Brain, You ran an excellent and convincing campaign worth being proud of. Congratulations on a job well done.

A couple of days ago I posted the following in the "South Orange-Winner or Loser" thread, but I think it belongs in this thread, so I repeat it. Dear MOLers and SOOLers, I have a long list of thankyous with regard to the S.O. elections: Thank you Dave Ross for giving me the opportunity to participate in the MOL forum. Thank you all MOLers and SOOLers for allowing me to exchange with you my views and to read yours on issues of our concern. Thank you Mark Rosner for the civilized debate you engaged me in. Thank you those of you who voted for me; your votes were not for naught; I pledge to continue my presence on the public scene. Thank you my running mates Brian O’Leary and David Lackey; your wisdom and courage was my inspiration. Thank you Roz Diamond, our campaign manager, for your steady guidance. Thank you all you volunteers for helping, in so many ways, in our campaign. I plan to continue my presence posting on this board, although I doubt that I can do it as frequently as Brian (1400 posts in 14 months)and Mark (400 posts in 13 months). My time is limited; I am a busy retired man. Eric DeVaris |

Thanks to you both for putting yourselves out there, taking a stand. Brian, I look forward to your continuing words on South Orange (what I mean is, beyond the school board!), and Eric -- while I hope you enjoy retirement -- do continue to lend an ear and yur voice to the issues! Pete |

Let me please echo the words of thanks given above by my running mates. The campaign was truly a team effort, and we were fortunate to have a terrific team around us. Thanks also to the many participants on this message board. It was truly helpful to find out which issues were of the greatest concern to the town residents posting here. Also be aware that even though not all the candidates posted, word is that they all did read the messages (and will probably continue to do so). So let your voice be heard. |
