The Village has its annual Memorial Day Celebration on Monday May 26th at 10:30 A.M. at the Memorial Rock by the Duck Pond. Wouldn't be nice if more people showed up for this brief ceremony. (Less than a half hour on a holiday.) All are invited.

Mr. Matthews,

Any reason why the South Orange Memorial Day Celebration was not advertised in the Star Ledger? In the Sunday edition they had a list of all the celebrations, everywhere from Orange to Millburn to Maplewood. No mention of South Orange. Having had just read your post now, I hadn't heard anything about it.
I would think advertising events like this to the public, not just via our website, would be a good way to get people to visit our town.

Don't know why it wasn't in the Ledger or the News Record. Despite the rain there was a nice crwod at the ceremony which was shortened because of the rain.

Really too bad, I would have liked to go, but did not think there was any town commeration - I did not see anything advertised and the Maplewood one was cancelled. Was it posted on the SO village website?

I predict it'll take place at the same location and time next Memorial Day.
