I'm planning a bday party for a one year-old, but I expect to have several kids between 2 and 4 years. Any recommendations on activities I can bring in to entertain the kids for a little while (clowns, characters, music, etc)? Thanks. |

I think you're best bet is to go to Drug Fair and buy a ton of fun stuff for the kids -- they have little sets contiaing one jump rope, one paddle ball and jacks. Bubble blowers are always a hit -- they have the ones which come in spill proof containers. If you're not against them, squirt guns. Borrow some ride on toys. Put out some sidewalk chalk on the driveway. Maybe a table and some art supplies. I think at that age the kids want to run around and play |

When my daughter was 2, I bought a bunch of bubble wrap from Staples, set it out on the floor, turned up the music, and let them go at it! What fun! |

For my daughter's second birthday, we skipped the entertainer and bought some new toys for all of the kids to play with in the back yard. The three that I remember as being hits: 1. The sand and water table...$50 or 70 at Toys R US or mail order, one 50 pound bag of sand in one side, water in the other. Lots of small messy and happy children. Two years later the table is still a hit (and I check every day to make sure that it is covered!) 2. A bunch of sturdy cardboard blocks, ordered from Lillian Vernon I think. These are about a foot long, and sturdy enough to climb on. After the party they moved indoors and are still favorites (bulky to store, but worth it) 3. Lots of playdough and cookie cutters, on a kid sized table. We had a couple of other backups in case it was rainy out (the noisy toy bowling set, etc). The bubble wrap is also great fun...we've done it at other children's parties. Have fun! |
