Do Maplewood residents have access (not borrowing privileges) to the Seton Hall Library?

What's the difference? Are you asking if you can go thete to use services, without actually borrowing a book?

You could always call and ask. Also,if you get a REBL card from the Mwood library, that gives you borrowing privs at SH. Since you usually have to go to, i.e., have access to, the library in order to borrow books, it seems to me that having access would be subsumed under borrowing.

IOW, the answer would have to be YES.

(Did any of this make sense?)

I'm just looking for a very quiet spot to study (away from distractions at home) on the weekend and assume that the Seton Hall library will be quieter than the public library. So, I don't need to look at any of their books. Plus, the Seton Hall library might have longer hours on the weekend. What is a REBL card?

Yes, you do have access for reading and working there--my spouse spent a lot of time there last year. No net or specialized database access and a few other things restricted to SH card holders, but it is open and generally a pleasant place to work.

A Rebl card is a card that gets you borrowing priveleges at a variety of other libraries. You can get one at the Maplewood library; I think they are good for 3 months.

Oh, I am not sure about longer hours on the weekend--or not much. IIR, that was somewhat of an annoyance.

The ReBL card is good for a calendar year and is issued as one's home library in Essex County. All participating Libraries have different restrictions on borrowing rights (some allow only older books, some block videos and audios,) but it is very useful to have. Not only SHU, but Rutgers Dana <UMDNJ ( I believe,I might be wrong) and most public libraries in Essex County participate.
