We just got one of these apps in the mail. I find it hard to believe we would qualify for a property tax rebate. Is this a legitimiate program? I've never heard of it but we just moved in a year ago. Thanks! |

It's legit, but you are eligible only if your income does not exceed some level which I imagine is specified on the form. |

I think that the level was $200K last year. There is a proposal to lower it (to $100K, I think) that is still pending. So it appears that the form is being sent to everyone who would have qualified last year (?) but there is a note in it that says that the qualifications will be reviewed. it is easy enough to apply for it, so you should go ahead and do so. If you qualify, the rebates are fairly significant - I think ours was about $600 last year - although nothing compared to the property tax bill itself. |

I just filed on-line. Very easy. Only took a few minutes. The on-screen message said that all submissions will be checked for eligibility. That suggests that they are still determining what the eligibility criteria will be for this year. |
