Just searched the archives and most of the threads were from 2 years ago. So, just in case things have changed - can anyone recommend a place to get a good short haircut. Garubo and Chelsea Set I've been to and have not been pleased with. What about the place on Morris in Union? Or any place else? |

Hi Joy - I have a very short haircut, and when my stylist in NYC retired after cutting my hair for 8 years, I was bereft. I took a chance at Subway Salon in Millburn (973-467-0477), and have been very happy with Dina there. Just recently she's been out with foot surgery, and Ida (pronounced "ee-da") did a very good job, albeit a bit less solicitous. Good luck. |

I also go to the Subway Salon in Millburn. Joyce is a fantastic hair stylist, and I highly recommend her. The first time I went, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my then long hair. I talked with her, took the plunge and chopped it all off. She did an amazing job! I have never been disappointed with anything she's done. That reminds me.I'm about due for a haircut... |

If I'm not too late, I second Alan at Hair Chalet. I have very short hair and am very picky about the cut.Alan does a great job. I have recommended him to several other people and all have been quite happy. |

Joecool - what does the Hair Chalet charge? I called up Subway - and they are out of my league price wise. $62(not including tip) for a hair cut is obsene. Wash cut and let dry. I don't need color or fussing. I just want a good solid cut. I've been transfered permently to South Jersey and can't get to my NY stylist anymore. I paid $20 for exactly what I wanted. So, needless to say, Joyce's price at Subway was a shock. Now - I'm not saying that she may not be worth it - just that I have gotten exactly what I wanted for less - and that sometimes the 'image' of the stylist or the salon isn't worth the price for me. |

I've found a natural way to have very short hair. The only downside seems to involve male pattern baldness, but let's not dwell. |
