Help settle a bet: rabbits or squirrels! We have plenty of each. Any ideas how to keep them away? thanks!

We have hordes of squirrels, and I don't see any astilbe damage, so it must be your rabbits. (I'm sure we must have rabbits too, however, though I've never actually seen one in the yard.) Astilbe isn't usually a deer favorite either, although they'll taste anything, I understand. Are you in a deer area?
