Is there a local Mexican goods store? I know where to go in NYC, but would love to have a closer supplier of: Luz Perpetua and Saint candles, Papel Picado banners, salted plums, Jarritos, etc. Any ideas for me?

Two places I can think of: in Passaic/Paterson (on the border, I think): The farmers market there a couple of blocks from Corrado's (which probably has some/most of the foods you're looking for.) But there are also some small shops/stalls in the f.m.

Many of the foods are likely to be available here at the supermarket on Irvington Ave (not Foodtown but down the street further toward Irvington), SuperX? Or what? I can't think of it's name. Also, candles, cookware, etc. That stuff is on the far right of the store, next to the produce.

There's a place in the small strip mall on the approach to the town square in Morristown that sells a big selection of Mexican and Salvadoran cooking ingredients and cookware. I don't know the name of the street it's on or the name of the store (wild goose chase alert), but it's well stocked and has great prices.

I have had the same difficulty finding stuff for making Mexican food. I resorted to an online store http://www.mexicansupermarket.com/.
Hope they have what you need.

Thanks all, I resorted to online too for festive goods, but am still planning a trip to Passaic as Bacata/Nakaille suggested. Carlos from Carmelita's recommended going there as well.
